Move to a difference stage, change address and representative payee

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I live in Florida and have SSI. My mother is my representative payee.

I want to move to Oregon and get a place with my friend and make them my representative payee.

I am wondering what I have to do and if this will be simple or difficult to change. I am also worried and paranoid that I might mess up and stop getting SSI from moving.

Hi Mary, In order for you to do this, you must call Social Security's toll-free number, 1-800-772-1213, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on business days. If you are deaf or hard of hearing, you may call our toll-free TTY number, 1-800-325-0778, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on business days or call your local Social Security office between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on business days.

i want to move to CT. I know they have different rules as far as what the state kicks in, as compared to CA where I reside now. Do you know what they are? can you help me to locate where, name of office i would contact? Also, how long can you visit another state before deciding if you want to make it a permanent move?
