Hi there,
Yes, they would lose that benefit once they receive the SSDI lump sum as it would be considered income for the month that they receive it and a resource for the months afterward.

Adult on SSI, lives alone, no minor children, large child support arrears owed. Will collecting the child support arrears affect the SSI payment. Is it required to notify SSI if collected? Please and TY.

Hi Mark,

I can't say for sure, but just because you are a homeowner doesn't mean that you can't be approved for SSI benefits.

I make $735 a month is SSI. I'm a young 26 yr old man but there is a job offering payment for temporary simple hard labor at a staffing agency. Could i take a job there and would my benefits stop? I do not know the exact amount i would be paid

Hi Jason,

I would recommend finding out as much as you can on how much that job pays. You can still work and collect SSI, however if your monthly income exceeds the 2017 SGA limit, it could affect your benefits.
