Can I draw my ssi check after turning it down?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I got my disability approved.when I was told this I was told I would get a ssi check on the 1st and ssdi on the 3rd. However I was later informed that it would take up to 6 months too start getting my monthly checks and back pay unless I declined my Ssi,and because it was only a small amount I agreed to not getting the ssi check on the 1st. Was this the wrong decision and can I get it now. I've been on ssdi since 2011.

Hi there,
I really could not say, that decision may make sense under certain circumstances and it would not in others. You may still be eligible for SSI, however you would need to contact the SSA to find out if you are still in fact eligible.
