Hi there,
unfortunately, SSI benefits are calculated based off of your income and resources, and the SSA includes a spouse's income in that calculation. However, if you're over 62 years old, you may be eligible for SSDI benefits based on your spouse's work record.

Well, I just today seen on the computer that I was going to receive 581. Per month. I don't understand when the judge said I was to relieve full benifits... shouldn't that be more like 733. Per month? Also will I get back pay for my son? My case goes back to November 4 2013? He was a dependent child all this time and turns 18 on friday...

Hi Diane,
While the Federal Benefit maximum for SSI is $735 for 2017, the judge may have been referring to full monthly benefit and back pay, as they can award either( or both) benefit depending on the case. The amount may depend on any monthly income that you may receive, as the SSA would reduce your benefits one dollar for every two you receive in income. Additionally, SSI benefits are not available for dependents.

Hi there,
Unfortunately you may not be able to do so as SSI benefits are only available to people who reside in the United States.

If you are living in the US now, reapply. Your prior decision will have very little to do with the new decision; it will all be based on current medical evidence, not old evidence.
