Skin / Burns Category

My grand daughter is being evaluated from child SSI to adult. She has been on it since she was 18 months old when she was badly injured in a house fire. She is now 18. SSA has added a skin and burn category for skin disorders and burns which she in my opinion clearly qualifies due to the scarring from head to toe, minus the face thank the good lord. She is utterly beautiful!

However she also has keyloid skin which causes thick scarring and undergoes laser treatments to have them softened and to reduce as many as possible, some of them can only be revised and surgically reconstructed to allow her the skin to grow and stretch with skin graphs. and it is a horrible experience she suffers a great deal. It is not a one time deal.

I anticipate having to appeal the decision I know is coming because they always 99% of the time deny a person if they can work. She is in a SSA training program called 'Promise" which is to help her gain employment and life skills over a four year period and help her become employed at some time. She is wanting to try college. Promise pays for summer jobs for the kids in the program. While her appearance and or scars may not keep her from finding a substantial gainful activity, her appearance does prevent her from working in certain careers. I do not know how to explain this on the appeal. Can I get some help with that please?
