Hearing Stage

First Check

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I was told during my interview after I got my acceptance letter that I would receive my first check in 7-10 days. Then she said the awards letter would be here in 2 weeks. Now, I'm seeing everywhere that the first check can take months. Who should I believe? It's the 9th day now.

Why is SSDI decision taking so much longer than SSI?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I had my hearing at the beginning of April. The decision for SSI was made at the end of May and was unfavorable because they said I am able to perform 3 jobs. Why is the decision for SSDI taking so much longer? It says that a medical decision has been made and that it is still processing. Wouldn't it be denied on the same grounds as SSI? Is it possible that the decision will be different?

Briefly im a 100% disabled Veteran, first hearing was turned down, appeals council turned down but won a remand in federal court so just had 2nd hearing few days ago but I am so confused and don't understand what happened. Went in and alj ask some basic confirmation questions and update questions since last hearing then let my lawyer speak and then in a matter of 5 mins or less total after my lawyer spoke the judge said that he did not need to speak to the vocational expert and that were done and will send me decision in cpl weeks and in a blink of an eye it was over.

How long is the norm to find out after ALJ hearing

Just curious is anyone knows how long it takes to get a decision. I had my hearing November 9th 2016. It’s almost February 2018 and online it’s just says processing have no idea what that means. Also isn’t it a good thing or bad that it is taking this long. I heard denials usually happen quickly but I don’t know if that’s true. Anything anyone could tell me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have been fighting disability for 4 years now, I have been denied over and over, sat in front of the judge, and now about to take it to the US District Court. I have to pay a fee of 400.00 and sign a paper that if I lose my lawyer will still get paid by the state. I have issues that stem from Lyme disease, fibromyalgia, Auto immune issues, neuropathy in my feet and I have chronic fatigue, but I can't seem to get anyone to listen to me. I can't get adequate treatment because doctors won't treat me because I don't have insurance.

Does Cancellation of SSI Disability Hearing Mean Favorable?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I received a letter from the ODAR that my Hearing had been cancelled. It stated "Your hearing has been cancelled. An on the record decision has been issued. You will receive a copy of the decision by mail." Is this likely Favorable? When can I expect to receive the decision by mail?

Has anyone won there SSI hearing without a lawyer ?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Hello, I have just received notice of my SSI hearing in a few months. I have been looking for one year in Virignia and there are no lawyers that handle ssi. They told me there is not alot of money if they win or my county does not offer any help through legal aid. I have to attend on my own. I even looked for lawyers that will take a fee, but no one has been willing to help with ssi cases. Can you please let me know if you have been to your own hearing without a lawyer and if you won ? thanks so much
