St. George SSD Hearings
Unfortunately, most claims are denied at the initial application stage. The best chance an applicant has of being approved for benefits is at the disability hearing stage. All St. George residents will have to travel to Las Vegas, NV Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR). Since Las Vegas is about 120 miles away from Sr. George, the SSA will reimburse any costs associated with traveling to the hearing.
If you have not yet hired a disability attorney or advocate, you should strongly consider doing so before attending your hearing.
Unfortunately, due to the heavy backlog of cases at the Las Vegas ODAR, it can take over a year to have a hearing scheduled. If you are in a dire financial or medical situation, it can be difficult to wait that long. You can contact your local congressman to see if it is a possible to have your hearing scheduled sooner.
