I was approved by Montgomery, AL Social Security for Disability. However, when Birmingham social security sent me my letter they denied benefits because they say I don't have enough work credits. I have worked 44 years and earned 53 work credits in that time. However, I have not worked in 2009 or 2010 because I was very sick and in Feb 2011 I fiynd out I had a Brain tumor which was removed and has since come back. It is the recurring kind. Birmingham SS says I have to have 4 work credits in the past 10 years. However, the paper they send me each year says I have enough credits and that I need 40 credits in a lifetime. As I said earlier I have earned 53 work credits in my life. I am 61 and totally disabled. What can I do???
