Working & Medicare

Hello,
I have been receiving SSDI and SSI for about 8 years now, and I would like to try working again. I have a severe heart and lung defect with a pacemaker/defibrillator, and I had a stroke, which ultimately led me to apply for disability. I feel I may be able to sustain a job working on computers, thus, my question is, if I start a full time job and I make well above the SGA limit, can I still receive Medicare Insurance Part A and/or Part B?

I am aware that there is a 9 month trial period in which there is no limit to the amount of money one can make and still receive full SSDI benefits (except for SSI), and after the 9 months, they will stop SSDI benefits if you continue to work and make more than the SGA, but is there any way to keep the Medicare Insurance Part A/B portion of SSDI, due to my medical condition?

Thanks for your time,
Walter West

Hi there,
You may be eligible for Medicare benefits for about 7 years and 9 months after you become ineligible for SSDI payments.
