Social security and Disability

My husband has been collecting social security and working. He has now become disabled can he collect disability too?

I have a question? My boyfriend and I are currently receiving treatment for an opiod addiction, are we eligible for social security/disability?

Hi Gina,
Generally dependency/addiction does not qualify for disability benefits.

Question for you, my dad is 75 years old and was in a car accident and has been in the hospital for almost six months now, does he qualify(social security/ disability benefits) or does he not qualify ? or Is disability only if your working and become disabled ?

Hi Diane,
Unfortunately as he over full retirement age, he may not be eligible for SSDI benefits, however if he has limited income and resources, he may be eligible for SSI benefits.
