SSI appointments

I am 65 just started getting SSI. How often can I expect to be monitored to check my status by SSA? I have read it can be anywhere from 1 to every 6 years and it can be by phone, mail or physical appointment. What is most likely? I live in the middle of nowhere and far from a SSA office. I don't drive? Thank you...

Hi Daniel,
They may do it by mail or by phone due to your distance from the nearest SSA office. I'm not sure exactly what would be most likely, but it may depend on your reporting to the SSA any income or expenses you may be require to report.

Hi Lacuanda,

We're not affiliated with the SSA so that is not something we can help with! I'd recommend calling the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 and seeing if you can find out! If you have a phone number for your local office, they may be able to help as well.
