Veteran Aid

Submitted by Bryan on

Hi Everyone!
If you're a veteran, you may be eligible for additional benefits alongside SSDI. One such benefit is the Aid and Attendance benefit, which is for veterans ( and their spouses) who are unable to do daily tasks unassisted. You can find out more by visiting Veteran Aid at https://www.veteranaid.org/ for more information.

I am already drawing %100 disability from the Veterans Administration. Would I be eligible for disability from the Social Security Administration?

Hi Boyd,

It depends on if the condition(s) that you are experiencing meet the SSA's Blue Book. With a 100% disability rating from the VA, you do qualify for an expedited claim though! When you apply, mark down that you are 100% P&T. This way, you'll hear back within a couple of weeks instead of a couple of months. You can also use both your military and civilian medical records, so be sure to submit as much medical evidence as you can. Good luck!
