Are SSDI applications being processed during this Covid 19 pandemic?

What does this mean?
The Disability Determination Service for your state is processing the medical portion of your benefit application. If they need additional information or evidence from you, they will contact you directly.

Hi Regina,

It means they are still going over your application to determine if you eligible for benefits. If they need more information to help make a decision, then they will reach out.

I spoke to a representative over the phone to check my claim status all she told me was a decision was made and she couldn't discuss it over the phone that i would have to wait on the letter in the mail. Is this good or bad?

Hi Chawntae,

It doesn't indicate either way! Your letter will explain the decision that was made. Best of luck!

SSA.gov indicates determination letter was sent last Friday. How long will it take to receive the letter? Also, the site says "You are receiving disability benefits" Can I assume this means I was approved?

Hi John,

It depends on the mail for how long it takes to get to you. It doesn't mean either way. The SSA sends a letter explaining their decision no matter what. Good luck!

Mine Says, Disability Determinations pending.

If they need additional information or evidence from you, They will contact you directly. Has anyone else had this when checking their claim online and have good results? When I first applied in 2018 it didnt show any of this when I checked. My fingers are crossed, I need this so much, I live in constant pain everyday

Hi Jamie,

That means they are still working on your application! Most people get this message when they are processing the application, so it is not telling on if you will be approved or denied. Best of luck!

Hi Jamie,

It means that they are still working on your claim. They may end up needing additional information to make a decision, so they may contact you for that additional evidence or info.

Hi Jasmine,

The first means that they have made a decision on your claim. You should receive a letter in the mail explaining the decision. The second means that they are still deciding if you qualify. SSI and SSDI have different requirements so they may have made a decision about one while still determining if you qualify for the other.

Hi Michael,

You should be able to see the status of your case online. The SSA will notify you on what their final decision will be.
