I need SSI Benefits & SSDI

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I have applied for SS in years past. I've been denied. I'm reopening my case as new symptoms and disability of my RA has increased and I have now stage 4 magesteized Breast Cancer in my Spine, Hips, and Front and Back Ribs, of my autonomy. I just recently have had 2 Tumors removed from my Brain, and am in healing process. As of 09/05/2014. I currently have finished 14 treatments of Radiation Therapy, which will conclude with Chemo therapy.

Hi Cynthia,
When you are denied, the letter sent to you by the SSA will state why you were denied. It could include financial reasons, a lack of work history, or you not medically qualifying.

Hi Jo,

SSI requires no work history at all, because it's a program for the most financially needy among the disabled population. To get SSI you need to have a medical condition that keeps you from working and is expected to last at least one year.

Hi Kathryn,
I am sorry, but if you are already on disability benefits then there is nothing else you can do to increase your payments.

Hi Ronnie,
You can apply for SSDI benefits online at www.ssa.gov , you may be eligible for disability benefits depending on your condition and your ability to do work in the future.

Recently had a brain tumor removed and my neurosurgeon recommends I apply for SSI . He does not believe I will be able to work fully again. I am currently in my recovery phase and I have had multiple set backs from surgery. I am looking at obtaining a local attorney to assist me with filing but my surgeon said that they are willing to assist with any medical records as well.
My biggest concern is I am young and have a 9 year old daughter to raise as well. I hear that the denial rate is high and we as a family are finicially set back and I have always worked all my life and now i am solely dependent on my husbands income.
Is there a way to have claims filed faster with a lawyer and a doctor recommendation?
I was told that I would not past any type of exam to work even as a telemarketer in my future with a brain tumor.

Hello,

I am very sorry to hear that. Having a lawyer and a doctor's recommendation won't necessarily make your claim go though faster but it will definitely make the whole process go by easier. The more medical evidence you have the better your chances of winning your case. You can speak to an attorney after filling out this evaluation:http://www.disability-benefits-help.org/form/free-disability-evaluation

Hi Kelsey,
I'm sorry to hear about that! You may want to contact a local SSA office regarding this, and you can also call the SSA at 1-800-772-1213.

Hye!
you can apply again with valid documents. The reason of denial can be any like your financial status and disability type. It is not a big issue as many applications are rejected in the 1st stage. Apply again and they will reconsider your request if found genuine.

Great advice Maria! Often denial letters can mention why you were denied, so read the letter carefully as well. You'll have a strict time limit to file an appeal!
