I became disabled in October of 2010 and applied for SSDI. I have been treated by my doctor every week since then and have retained an attorney for my SSDI process.
I have been paying in to the Social Security system for 38 years and am 55 years old. I had been at my last job for 20 years until I had to retire in June 2012 due to my disability.
During my hearing the judge asked the Vocational Expert if I would be able to do full time work in my present position and she told the judge that I would not be able to. The judge then asked I would be able to do full time work in any position and the VE answered no, that I would not.
My doctor also provided paperwork that stated that I have a total disability and could not do any work. I also provided a letter from my former boss who I worked directly for the entire 20 years stating that I was a dependable and dedicated employee until I started missing a lot of days during the summer of 2010 due to the start up of my disability.
I just found out that my case is with a Decision Writer and would be turning the case back over to the judge in a couple of weeks.
My question is, with my work history, age, doctors treatment and findings of the Vocational Expert, what would be my chances of being rewarded benefits?

I called oho office and my decision is fully favorable. They closed it out yesterday. My case was considered critical. How long does it take to receive a direct deposit? Will ssa use the critical status to send my money. They owe me 30 months back pay. Do they use your spouses income against you?

Congratulations! You often receive your first deposit within a couple of months of approval, no more than 4 or so.
I had my hearing on June 22, 2017, I'm still waiting for a decision. I must say, feel so disheartened after reading this thread. Seeing that some of you have had hearings in December 2016, and still have not had a decision is crazy. This is so cruel.

Lots of people asking about how long things take. I waited THREE YEARS to get a hearing. But I was approved at this hearing, something I did NOT expect and neither did my extremely impressive attorney. Since I was approved on Nov. 9, my lawyers said it could be several months until I see a check. Even longer than that before I get the lump some “back pay” from which I pay her fee. Hope this is helpful to someone. And if you need a great attorney in central Texas, just ask. If you are trying to get approved, I really encourage you to get an attorney, one who will work on commision so you’re not paying anything out of pocket. Good luck!

Yes, if approved you will get backpay from the date on which you originally applied.
I was contacted by State of Missouri March 2016, stating my sons biological father had passed away. I contacted SS in Missouri who told me that he had filed for disability in Louisiana in 2014 and again in 2015, and was waiting for a hearing to appeal his denial, but passed before hearing. Louisiana contacted me, and because my son was only surviving child, they transferred case to Missouri to make it easier on us. Had hearing in Columbia February 2017, Judge made his ruling in July. I called to check the status end of August and was told it was in underwriting...not sure what that is exactly. I called again last week to check the status, and I was told it was still in underwriting and had been there since the first of August. What exactly is the "writer", does it typically take 3 months in that department? What happens after it leaves there? I will mention that me and my sons father have not seen or spoken to one another in 19 years, so I had no idea my son could collect on this claim after his death, and I am totally in the dark on the process and length of the process. Hi there,
the decision writer drafts the official legal decision that the judge makes regarding a disability case. You would either be awarded benefits or not depending on the decision, you would receive a letter in the mail outlining their decision.
I have been denied 2times also jus had a hearing sept12 my lawyer called yesterday and told me that my decision is been written and i should recieve my answer I been waiting since 2014 have severe/chronic back pain whats the odds of me bein approved!!

We really could not say as we do not have any information about your case.
Had my hearing May 31, 2017, was told I could not do any of the jobs the vocational expert suggested, also had a letter from doctor that in her opinion I was disabled. When I call the person in charge of my case she never returns calls. Finally was told 2 weeks ago it is on the Judges desk. Was advised it should not be too long. My mortgage takes up most of my pension check and maxed credit cards for meds etc. Budget gets tighter each month!

I called the OHO office and was told not to call anymore. They said the ALJ was reviewing my case. I have been threatened by my landlord. Because he has not received any money in 6 months. That he was going to set my stuff on the curb. With no eviction notice. I asked for him to put something in writing. But he wont what can I do??

They may not have a time set, but they may have one set nearer to the date of your hearing.
