Attempting to go back to work but worried about checks

Hi, I am currently collecting disability checks for a permanent mental condition and am unemployed. However, I want to give part time work a shot and see if I can handle it. I am familiar with the trial to work period and the income limits.

What might work is if I can make about $500-$700 so that I can enjoy both that paycheck without interfering with the disability check. So here's my question. When it's time for a review with Social Security should I be worried that they will cancel my benefits if they see that I'm able to hold a part time job in minimum wage work and am currently working this job at the time of the review?

Hi Hilda,
You can do this, but to remain eligible for SSDI benefits, you cannot earn more than $1090 per month. To remain eligible for SSI benefits, you cannot earn more than $733 per month.
