What if a person moves to another state? Do you simply update your address on line. If you still want to have your funds direct deposited to your original state and bank is that okay. Thanks V

Hi Jamie,
You could, but your benefits could be affected in a number of ways.
First off, you could lose your benefits entirely if your income or asset level goes too high after the move. If you are moving from apartment to apartment this is fine, but if you are purchasing a second some, you will become disqualified.
Secondly, if you receive any SSI supplements from your state, you could lose them. On the flip side of this though, you could receive additional payments if you move to a state that gives a higher SSI supplement.
Finally, you could become disqualified from Medicaid. Most states automatically enroll SSI recipients into Medicaid, but around 10 states have their own eligibility criteria, so you will need to re-apply.
