SSDI and Personal Service Contract

I have been on SSDI for over 6 years with over 4 years back pay as well. My question is my mother's assets were over the Medicaid eligibility level to receive care through an ACLF therefore The Elder Care Co. that was hired had us do a Personal Service Contract. The lump sum is approx. $27K with the monthly rate @$800, will this effect my disability? Can I take the money, seeing it is paid in advance and in a lump sum in consideration for it not being adequate to pay for the probable years of care needed, to purchase a house, car? Anything of value that is not going to be considered as an ongoing asset? That is at least by the additional help I receive for paying for Part B and Prescription coverage? Thank you in advance.

Hi there,

Hi there,
for SSDI, there is no limit on unearned income. However, in this case you may want to speak with a someone at your local SSA office to find out how a lump sum payment would affect your benefits, as you would be getting it what I would assume is earned income.

going crazy
hurt 13 years ago..receive

hurt 13 years ago..receive social security disability and workers comp..had a personal policy (pd by myself)disability..the personal disability insurance would like to so a lump sum payment will this have impact on social security disability or workerscomp...

Hi there,

Hi there,
I can't really say, if you're receiving income-based benefits rather than benefits based off of your work record, your benefits may be affected.
