What Happens at a SSDI Psychological/Mental Exam? and Request Advice on what to do at the Exam.

Hello, everyone. I am a total of 90% VA Rated Disabled which in part I am 50% PTSD VA rated. I have 2 doctors letters explaining my conditions I have been summoned to report to a SSDI Psychological/Mental Exam some time (Mid May). Can anyone tell me what and how this Psychological/Mental Exam is about and what I should and should not do at this exam? Thank You in advance.

Hi there,

Hi there,
I would make sure that you have any and all documentation about your condition available to the doctor who is doing your exam, including statements from the doctors that are treating you for your psychological conditions. I couldn't say that you should do or not do anything, however it's always a good idea to be forthright with the doctor doing the evaluation.

The advice that I received,

The advice that I received, and which I'll give is to be truthful. My test was to measure short term memory loss. I did ok at first, and was actually concerned about it. However, as the tests got harder, and I got more tired, I did worse and worse, and ultimately, the test accurately reflected my (quite poor short-term) memory function.
I was denied on the initial application, but won on reconsideration.

Hi James,

Hi James,

Thank you for sharing.

Best Wishes,
Eric
