Spouses wages reducing my SSI amount

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

My wife works part-time average gross 1,185 monthly. My SSI amount changes drastically twice a year when she has 3 pays in a month. She does not receive SSI. Twice I received under 300 normally it's about 500 everything is going up but I didn't get notification of a cost of living increase in my benefit like the other people receiving SSI. Is this because I'm married and she is employed?

Hi there,
You may still get a cost of living increase, that is an increase that the SSA does for the maximum benefit, so you may be eligible for slightly more money from the SSA. It may be a good idea to contact them regarding this.
