Lump sum back payment

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I received two lump sum payments, but I have not spent all of the funds. I want to make a funeral arrangement and buy a car. How soon must I spend the lump sum payment.

I'm 64 years old. Have heart condition, vertigo, and other health issues. Right now my social security is under $300. Is there any way I can be credited for my work many years ago, even though my boss didn't take out $ for social security? I can't live on this amount.

Hi Darlene,

I would recommend speaking to a disability advocate or attorney if you don't already have one.

Best Wishes,
Eric

My son was approved for ssi and he has got his first lump sum deposited into his dedicated account. My question is I have a vechile already but I have no insurance or tags on it so can I use back pay to get the car legal? It is our transportation.

Hi Cassie,
You may want to contact your local SSA office regarding this as this may be approved use of funds.

Hi Shirley,
You may start receiving after the SSA sends you a letter indicating that you have been awarded benefits.

Hello, i recieve ssi with a backpayment of 12k due. I recieved the initial installment. ..in which most of that gave me a start in paying back what i owed my family for bills..etc. I own no land..nothing.
I do not own a vehicle the first. My cousin has a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 that hes doing his best to offer a great deal to me at $10,500. What is required for me to apply and get approved for the funds necessary to purchase it? And what are my chances that i will be approved overall? As i stated,I own nothing. I cant get anywhere at the time being other than asking people. And believe me, those favors are wearing thin. If i cant find a way to purchase said vehicle soon..i will be boots on the ground in a very rural area. What do i do to be approved?

I am now reserving ssd I had not received my lump sum payment from 2010. I'm dealing with mental illness and when I was going over my paperwork in 2016 I noticed the sent me a letter stating they had took my lump sum for my husband ssi say he need to pay it back because I was receiving ssd. I applied that in 2016 and received I letter saying my applie was denied and they said I could not get the money because my reason was not good enough. Ssd is in they wrong they can't take my money for my husband. I can't find a lawyer to take this case. I have been told it needs to go to the federal court. Please help in need of lawyer in Albany area
