I’m 4’81/2 and work in a school. They are changing my title and duties and are telling me i’m “Security”! Ivwon’t Be doing traffic or breaking us fights, so i’m to walk for 8 hours?
I’m a 64 year old female and i’m n a high school. I was never sent a new contract and i’m not part of a union. I’ve been treated for siatica and arthritic knees for the last 1 1/2 years and I intend to get a 504. Thoughts?

Does being 4'7" require being a disability because i have heard a lot of people telling me that i can get disability because i am under a certain height. But also I have a problem with my right knee i have had surgery on it some years back and it still bothers me it flares up to a point where i cant walk or work i have had to quit so many jobs because of it. I wanted to know is there anyway you can help me

Hi There,

Your height alone will not qualify you for disability benefits. We are not affiliated with the SSA so unfortunately we cannot help you directly, but you could qualify if you have another disabling condition.

Hi Maggie,

If you are simply 4'6 and have no other ailing conditions, you will not be approved for Social Security benefits.

Hi There,

For that reason alone, it does not. But you have an intellectual or a physical disability it could.

Hi Zoe,

For your height alone you wouldn't be able to get approved for SSDI, but you may be able to if your back pain is severe enough.

Hi Tammy,

A diagnosis of dwarfism does not mean that you are eligible for benefits unless it affects your ability to work, you don't qualify simply for having dwarfism or having a short stature. You may want to contact a disability attorney or advocate if you are unable to work due to complications you may have due to your stature, but your height alone would not qualify you for benefits.

I was diagnosed with extreme anxiety, ptsd and depression more than a year ago. I am working on asking for help. I do have a family doctor. I recently started therapy again and hopefully I get back on track with medication soon. It is self pay so it's very difficult. My anxiety is sometimes crippling. Would I qualify?

Hi there,
You may be able to qualify, but it generally easier to qualify for physical conditions rather than mental ones.
