If ssa sent a message to your claim status saying a medical decision has been made and we working to process your benefit application...wouldn't they send a denial letter in a timely manner if you're deemed denied ?...been waiting for weeks since update. Does long wait mean possible approval ?

Hi Marvin,

It doesn't mean that you were approved or denied. They just want to make sure that everything is in order so they can make a decision.

Website says medical decision made However I thought social security sent you to one of their doctors. I haven’t had to do that.

Hi Jana,

In certain situations they can, they will notify you if they are sending you to one of their doctors. Otherwise working with your primary care or specialist is fine.

Hi Milly,

It means they are still working on your appeal and no decision has been made yet. Best of luck!

Your claim for Disability benefits has been approved. A detailed notice has been sent to you with your benefit information. For more information, please use the Benefit Verification Letter to check your benefit details.
Does this mean I really was approved? Sometimes this is a bit confusing. I did not hire an attorney. I did everything myself.

Hi Angela.

Congrats! It sounds like you were approved.

You can request a benefit verification letter online by using your my Social Security account. that'll tell you how much you will earn per month. This letter is sometimes called a "budget letter," a "benefits letter," a "proof of income letter," or a "proof of award letter."

Does this mean I've been approved or denied? Disability Determination Decision Under Review

Your benefit application is currently under review for processing accuracy. Once the review is complete, we will continue processing your benefit application.

I had the same status as above: Your benefit application is currently under review for processing accuracy. Once the review is complete, we will continue processing your benefit application. I talked to my assigned DDS and she stated that it was pulled at the federal level for a quality review but could not tell me how long the review might take. Could you help with finding that out?

Hi Teresa,

Unfortunately, each case is different so the time it takes to get an answer varies from case to case.

Hi Bonnie,

Yes, SSI (Supplemental Security Income) and SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) are two different programs. SSDI are for those who had one point were able to work full time, but now cannot because of a disability. SSI are for those with a severe disability and with very little income.

Hi Jennifer,

The automated message does not mean if you were approved or denied. The letter that you should be getting will explain what the decision was and why. Best of luck!
