Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

My account has said the below starting on 10/27 and has not changed. I did rec'd a fully favorable decision and have been told it is at the processing center.
Anyone have this message how long until it updated to show approved ? How long until your benefits started ?

Hi There,

It means they are still processing your claim. If they need anything else from you, they will reach out. Once a decision is made, you will receive a letter in the mail.

But if you says a decision has been made, then a letter would be sent out immediately?

Hi Zy,

That means that the SSA has made a decision on your case. The letter should explain if you were approved or denied and why!

The SSA site states that I’m denied for SSI but that my appeal is under review for SSDI .. It also states that a medical decision has been made ..
I received a letter confirming the denial of SSI due to medical reasons
As I have Sarcoidosis, COPD , Endometriosis, Obesity, Hypertension , Sever Anemia,Rhumetoid Arthritis plus more and the judge states I’m too young and my illnesses can limit me , but not stop me from working I have to take breaks n he states I can only sit for 2 hours and only walk for one hour

Hi There,

I am so sorry to hear that. It is difficult to be approved for both SSI and SSDI at the same time though. Best of luck of the SSDI decision.

the ALJ asked if I would change the onset date. Does this mean that I am approved?

Hi Smiller,

Onset date usually refers to the date you began experiencing your disabling condition. The ALJ asking does not mean that you were approved or denied. They may need that information to further evaluate your claim.

Hi Dave,

If a decision has been made, then you should be receiving a letter in the mail shortly that will explain if you were approved or denied and the next steps. Best of luck!

How can they deny you without having a hearing? What if you have more medical proof to show ? I have the same message and I believe it is incorrect because i submitted the appeal and the decision was made the next day.

Hi Ana,

Being denied happens to about 70% of applicants. Are you currently working with an attorney? This would be our recommended course of action. If you have an attorney you are significantly more likely to be successful.

Fill out the above information and you will be connected with an attorney or advocate in your area.

Hello, I had my hearing on 10-3-19 with a AJ and a Disability lawyer, and when all was said and done, my lawyer said I most likely will win my case and had me sign a piece of paper even the judge asked if it was filled out, and the lawyer took me outside the hearing and said I was in favor however when checking the ssa website say still pending waiting on medical decision, what does this mean? I am on pins and needles and my lawyer is out of town, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Harley,

It means that they are still processing your claim. I would keep checking in with your lawyer once they are back. Your lawyer will likely find out if you were approved or denied before you receive a letter with the decision.

Then that brings up the question of what “processing” is?

Hi Niki,

They are still working on your claim and determining if you meet the eligibility requirements for benefits.

Hi Allen,

You should receive a letter in the mail when a decision is made! If you had a lawyer helping you, you can contact them to see if they have received an answer on your claim as well!

Hi Dale,

It sounds like the SSA is still processing your claim. They have other factors, not just your medical eligibility that they need to factor in when making a decision. You'll receive a letter in the mail once you are approved or denied.
