Waiting for decision

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I became disabled in October of 2010 and applied for SSDI. I have been treated by my doctor every week since then and have retained an attorney for my SSDI process.

I have been paying in to the Social Security system for 38 years and am 55 years old. I had been at my last job for 20 years until I had to retire in June 2012 due to my disability.

During my hearing the judge asked the Vocational Expert if I would be able to do full time work in my present position and she told the judge that I would not be able to. The judge then asked I would be able to do full time work in any position and the VE answered no, that I would not.

My doctor also provided paperwork that stated that I have a total disability and could not do any work. I also provided a letter from my former boss who I worked directly for the entire 20 years stating that I was a dependable and dedicated employee until I started missing a lot of days during the summer of 2010 due to the start up of my disability.

I just found out that my case is with a Decision Writer and would be turning the case back over to the judge in a couple of weeks.

My question is, with my work history, age, doctors treatment and findings of the Vocational Expert, what would be my chances of being rewarded benefits?

Can your attorney check your disability decision online if a decision was made on your case or you have to wait for a letter in the mail

I had a disability hearing on Jan 25 2018. It's been 90 days today. How long does it take the judge to make a decision.

Hi Nita,

Unfortunately, each case is different so the amount it takes to have a decision made on your case varies.

My hearing was held 11/14/17. My case went into letter writing status 1/17/18. As of today the ALJ office still can't tell me anything. Is it normal for a decision to sit in letter writing status 4 months?

I had my SSD hearing on 2/5/18 face to face with the judge, SS says it went to decision writing 3/2/18. My lawyer called about 3-4 weeks ago and they said the judge had received it back and it was awaiting his signature. Then on Friday when my lawyer called they said it was back with decision writing which I assume needed a correction. It has been 18 weeks since my hearing and I am getting nervous. I have to be out of my home by 6/22/18 and I have not found another place to live yet due to lack of money. I have lost my car. I literally have nothing. My lawyer applied to have my case expedited and it was denied. I live in GA and went through the Chattanooga TN ODAR office for my hearing. Does anyone know how I could speed things up? My lawyer says he felt good about my hearing and feels I will probably get a favorable decision. However I still am nervous about it. Does a longer wait indicate that it is probably a good decision or not?

My husband had been delayed three months after his stroke, due to wanting to see progress..right before the date to check progress he had another stroke.does that delay it again or help the claim.i also received a questionnaire to fill out about his seizures and sent it back before the fifthteen days.so they have that and all medical records.whats next from here.because they said they would make a decision without it if not returned.so I don't know if it's decision time or another delay.

Any idea what a very quick decision could be. Hearing was July 20, 2018 and a medical determination was made on August 15, 2018. No decision arrived yet. When I called, I was told it was mailed yesterday.

Hi KCL,

You can contact your lawyer if you had one representing you. They often find out if your case was approved or denied before you.
