SSI Back Pay Installments

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 12/10/2015 - 12:41

Does anybody know whether that SSI back pay comes on a certain day of the month? I got my first installment the same week I was approved for SSI it came on the same day I got my first benefit. But I should receive one in January and I'm trying to figure out when I will see it? If anyone has any experience with receiving them in would love to hear about it!

Hi Tina,

Every case varies, so I really can't say for sure. You can call the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 to see if they can shed some light on that.

Hi Benny,
You may receive it about six months from then, as the SSA sends SSI back pay installments six months apart.

Hi there,
You should receive it six months from your last installment if the SSA has awarded you SSI back pay. You may want to contact the SSA for more details.

My Social Security Web page is showing a payment was processed on 12/21... It is now 12/26 and it still has not posted my Direct Express card account... My last payment posted within 48 hours... What's the deal? Should I call Social Security, or Direct Express?

Hi there,
I could not say, you may want to follow up with the SSA regarding this as they would have information about any expedited back pay.

Hi there,
You can find more information about your son's disability benefits in the award letter, Washington state may disburse supplemental benefits every two months but SSI back pay is paid out in six month installments unless your case is a dire need case.

My son was approved for SSI in Oct. We met with SSI in the 1st week of Nov. She said give her 2 weeks and he will get his back pay and SSI payment. He had his 1st payment Dec 1st. Still no back pay. I have called many times and they say that it's not in processing. Then I went down there and they told me that it should be there on Monday which was Martin Luther king Day. Still haven't seen it. I'm so confused what to do next. Anyone have a hard time receiving back pay.

I was supposed to got my son last backpay in Jan 2018 . Still haven't gotten it yet. I called the ssa and they told me I have to do the review 1st. Why didn't they send a letter in the mail letting me know that so I wouldn't be looking dumb. I just got my car stolen and it had all my son clothes and everything he needs in it. U think they will release the funds asap.

Hello,

I am so sorry to hear that. I can't say for sure why they didn't send a letter. You may be able to receive expedited payments due to your situation. You can speak with a SSA rep regarding that. Best of luck.
