I have been on dialysis for three months, I will receive SSDI benefits in Nov. 2011 is first check retroactive to date of application?

I started an initial application online back in August and I have not been able to find a way to go back in and complete my application. Help! My time is running out.

My mother who was recieving SSDI has passed away and now without her income I can not pay all the bills aside from the bills she left behind I have my own and I don't have enough money comming into the house without her income and I did care for her and pay the majority of everything we owed every month am I eligible to recieve some kind of assistance, or compensation for providing care?

I am unable to make my financial ends meet and have accrued medical and other debt. Friends want to offer financial assistance toward my rent and/or to help me pay down my debt (e.g., medical). Can friends help me financially without jeopardizing my SSD? If so, how does their financial assistance need to be accounted for or structured so that it will not negatively impact on my SSD?
