Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)

Hi I applied for SSDI for several physical and mental impairments. I live in NY and that is where I filed. I found out two weeks ago that my application has been sent to New London, KY. Does anyone know why this is?

If I move to another state and change residency, does that affect social security payments??

How long does it actually take for appooval?? All that I have read on line say immediately?? Well what does that really mean. A week , two weeks??? No one can give me an answer.

I have been approved for SSDI. Do the checks come from the United States Treasury? My mother recently passed away and I want to make sure this is not a check I am supposed to put back in her account until her bills are paid off.

My wife was recently (2 years ago) diagnosed with Lupus and Fibromyalgia. She has been sick for about 25 years but the doctors could not diagnose her and called it "Idiopathic" she is bed ridden most every day and gets out if she is lucky a couple days a week. Since she was unable to work but the doctors could not diagnose she was unable to file for SSDI etc. Now that they figured out what she has she is told it is too late to file because she has not worked in 25 years.

my direct deposit card expired this month, I called 3 months ago to receive another one and never received it. They say they have a differant address from the one I live at now. Not possible, but they say they need comformation that SSDI has my correct address. The address "Direct Express" says they have, is where they sent my card. How will I recieve my benifits?

Is there some formal process for reporting income for a part time job ?

I have been told that I can apply for an additional amount on top of my monthly benefits for my 2 children but my case worker said that there is no program permitting this..I've talked to many other Moms that receive ssi & ssdi that receive extra for their children. I don't receive child support from their Dad and its impossible to live off the $694 I receive a month. Any information would help out greatly.
