Passing judgments on those who have been approved

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I just need to say this ASAP. Where do people get the idea that they have the right to begrudge someone else for having been approved for benefits? I have been faced with people who think that they have the right to judge whether or not I am deserving of the benefits I have been awarded. They openly told me that I shouldn't be getting SSDI for my "issues" SSDI when there are so many others who have "real" disabilities that are repeatedly denied. If these people were such experts on which situations and conditions defined what a "disability" was then they would never even be complaining about all of the other people who have been approved for benefits. They would be devoting their time to trying to seek out ways to improve their quality of life by means that are within their power and control. If a person isn't part of the solution, they are part of the problem. Take it however you choose.

SSDI fairness?

I am a paraplegic as the result of an accident. I receive SSDI and work part-time. I believe I can only gross up to $1165 per month or I would lose all my benefits. I have a friend who is also a paraplegic as the result of an injury. She hasn't worked for the past twenty years and has been supported by her husband who earns a six figure income. In addition to this, she received a large settlement from her accident. I did not. She and her husband own two homes, each worth well over $500,000. They are looking to buy another place.

I would like to know how to stop being the representative payee for my son. He is has cut all contact with me and I am no longer able to oversee his medical appointments, medications, or how he uses his money. I am not sure if he is even in the state anymore. I heard that he was moving out of state.
