My ex wife and I have been divorced since 2007. She is on SSDI (mental). I have full custody of our son, in fact he doesn't even know she exists. I didn't want or ask for any child support in the divorce agreement. She still receives a monthly check for my son through SSDI. Is this legal since that money was meant to support my son? Should he get the money or the check get cut out all together? We don't need the money per se, just asking.

Even though she has no custody, she still receives SSI disability payments in his name. Is this legal? I didn't ask for or want any child support. I was just wondering if she had any legal reason to be receiving this money when it was actually meant for his support.

My husband is currently receiving SS disability and not working. He sued his employer several years ago for back wage unrelated to the disability, and it looks like he will be awarded the back pay this year. The sum is for several years of employment and is large (6 figures). How will it impact his monthly disability, if any, from Social Security? Do we need to notify SSDI or just report it on his tax return next year?

I have received approval to receive Social Security Disability benefits. The approval letter arrived several months ago in the mail informing me of the monthly benefit amount as well as a start date of November 28, 2014. I understand that the monthly benefit amount is to be direct deposited. To my knowledge, I have not submitted my banking information to SS Administration. Will the first payment arrive by way of paper check through the mail or will a representative be contacting me for banking information?
