Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)

Can I still apply or am I shi- out of luck?

I was placed on unemployability by the VA with a rating of 70% totally and permanently disabled and paid at the 100% rate for VA compensation back in Dec. of 2002. I was told at that time that I may be eligible for SSDI. At the time I was comfortable with my VA compensation amount and figured why apply for SSDI when others could use the benefit more than myself. Well, 12 years later my VA comp does not go as far as it did and I am in significantly more pain as my body feels 75 and not the 55 that it actually is, and it gets worse and worse with each passing year.

COPD

I have a breathing function of 33% with medications and am on oxygen 24-7, I was recently hospitalized for HBP due to my lungs making my heart work too hard. I am finding it harder and hard to work fulltime - however cannot afford to quit my job, I miss work every month due to my illness and am in fear I will lose my job and certainly would not be a hirable candidate for another employer - Suggestions?

Benefits Stopped And I Am Not Sure Why

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

My pharmacy told me I no longer had medicare and so I called Social Security and was giving this smack in the face: My SSDI stopped. Reason?: They were not told I stopped working.

1, I told them I stopped working the same day I told them I became homeless in July 2013. It was because of this that they tacked on SSI.

2, Even if I still was working, I was never making enough to lose my SSDI which is the reason why I still was receiving benefits.
