SSI Back Pay Installments

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Does anybody know whether that SSI back pay comes on a certain day of the month? I got my first installment the same week I was approved for SSI it came on the same day I got my first benefit. But I should receive one in January and I'm trying to figure out when I will see it? If anyone has any experience with receiving them in would love to hear about it!

Hi Dexter,
I could not say, you may want to contact the SSA regarding your back pay.

Hi Laura,
I'm sorry to hear about that! You may not be eligible for backpay for various reasons, you may want to contact the SSA regarding this.

Hi there,
You would be eligible for back pay if you were eligible for that back pay at the time of your application.

keep in mind the way Social Security explained to me is the monthly SSI checks are a month behind which meaning The check you receive in January is for December & etc.

Hi there,
You can find more information about your son's disability benefits in the award letter, Washington state may disburse supplemental benefits every two months but SSI back pay is paid out in six month installments unless your case is a dire need case.

Hi Sandra,

Once approved you get backpay usually in 3 installments, then you will get your month to month payment.

My son was approved for SSI in Oct. We met with SSI in the 1st week of Nov. She said give her 2 weeks and he will get his back pay and SSI payment. He had his 1st payment Dec 1st. Still no back pay. I have called many times and they say that it's not in processing. Then I went down there and they told me that it should be there on Monday which was Martin Luther king Day. Still haven't seen it. I'm so confused what to do next. Anyone have a hard time receiving back pay.
