When I initially met with my attorney, I was told that back pay would go back one year from application, minus 5 months (I had already waited over 2 years to file because I was told I would have "full recovery" after my 2 fusion surgeries). I've received my acceptance letter but not my back pay yet, and during my search for more info on the process I came across a SSDI page stating that even if it takes 24 months for your claim to get approved, you can only receive pay for 12 months. Can anybody help clarify this for me please? Also, I have friends who received their back pay before or immediately after their approval letters (NY), but I've seen posts by people saying it took several months so I was wondering if there was a formula for when I can expect mine? I'm not looking to go on a spending spree, but I have a mortgage, car payment, property and school taxes, and children to feed and clothe as well as one in an expensive college. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and all input is appreciated.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I'm not sure about a loan, but the SSA may send it in a few months, the standard waiting period for back pay is four months from the time you are approved for benefits.

It generally takes five months for benefits to start coming in, and after that four months from when back pay is disbursed.
I received a letter saying Fully Favorable. This means I am on SSDI correct? Because I also received an additional letter saying they were processing another application to see if I qualify for SSI.

I really couldn't say as I am not affiliated with the SSA and could not make that determination with any accuracy. However, you may want to get in touch with a disability advocate or attorney, as they can better help you with your case. If you fill out the form to the left, we can have one reach out to you.
I applied for my son for benefits n still waiting process but one if the things it listed on my papers was thaty my son was listed disable since birth....does that mean the payments would go back from then or the date of my application......

Generally the SSA will honor back pay from the EOD, or Established onset Date.
Went to hearing on June and on Aug. 5th received the letter that it was approved. When should I be receiving the award letter?

I really could not say as it may vary depending on the Postal Service, but you may find it in your mailbox sometime in the next few months.
I became disabled in oct. 2014 and am waiting to go to court do you have any idea how long it will take for my court date my attorney said it was being held up because I was not having surgery to try and help make it better so I did have my left knée done but went into cardic arrest on the table so they could not finish it and have heart issues that I did not have before also the doc will not touch me after that but the bills are piling up. How long after court does it take to start getting money deposited thank you for any help in my questions.

It generally takes about 17 months for an ALJ trial, and if approved, there is a 5 month waiting period for SSDI benefits at that time.
I have a long confusing story here. My mom is my representative payee. I was approved in April and started receiving my monthly benefits. I still have not received my backpay! They keep telling me its pending. What is the hold up????

It takes about four months from the time you start receiving monthly benefits to start receiving your back pay benefits.
I received my fully favored decision August 9, 2016. SSDI. When will I received backpay?

Generally, back pay comes about four months after you start receiving disability benefits.
I was intially approved for ssi and received a letter about back pay which I did get some of it the said in letter it would be in installments ok then my status changed it should have been ssd instead and gave amount of back pay including what my lawyer would receive the back payment I received was not the full amount because ssi issued it will i still have to wait 6 months for the rest of the back payment

The SSA may send SSDI back pay as one lump sum rather than in installments.
I recently was awarded my ssi and social security had told me I would be getting backpay starting in 2012-till now but now are saying Im only getting $19000 the figures dont add up and others with the same dates recieved alot more can you tell me why
In reply to I recently was awarded my ssi by Anonymous (not verified)
There could be many reasons why you were only eligible for that amount, for example the onset date of your disability may have been determined to be later than 2012.
