It generally takes five months from the time of approval to start receiving benefits.
Hi my boyfriend was killed back on December 3,2015 he received ssi bc he was shot at the age of 15. Never able to work. We have a 3year old daughter is it any way that I can get some type of assistance with her.
I am sorry to hear that. Because he is on SSI benefits, your daughter will not be entitled to any benefits.
My dad is disabled I'm \ full 5ime college s5udent
If you are a college student over the age of 18, you will not be able to receive any auxiliary benefits under your father's account.
i had custody of my niece and nephew for 2.5 years, the mother was given custody back april 20th, will she get the childs disability check he gets off his father May3rd? I was told the checks are held a month behind? so I would receive it? either way she will get the check even if i receive it, but i was going to throw my card away if it wasnt going to come to my account.
I believe you will need to go to your local SSA office to have the payments sent to the mother instead of your account if you are no longer taking care of the child.
How can I find out if my child's father receives benefits?
If you know his SS#, you can look it up under "My SSA" at www.ssa.gov
I don't know if my child father is receiving ssdi, I called the local social security office ,made an appointment. They wouldn't tell me if my childs father was receiving benefits, but they said when I come to my appointment to bring bank routing number.does that mean my son's father is receiving benefits.
If you know his Social Security number, you can look this up at www.ssa.gov. I would recommend making an appointment to see if you can get auxiliary benefits under his account.
Thanks for responding. I Also am aware that my son's father is receiving disability benefits from the va.he is at a 90% rating,is My son entitled too any benefits from the va
He may be eligible for benefits, but I would get in touch with a VA representative to make sure.
my grandaughter has Lupus she lives in Colorado with her who works a regular wage job
and my grandchild wants to be a normal teen but can't. because of the Lupus
can we get disability for her to help
If she's earning more than $1,120 per month, she will not be able to qualify for SSDI benefits. I would recommend that she stops working before applying.
i have legal guardianship of my niece whi is 11 years old. I am diabled and my two biological children receive benefits through me. can my niece receive those benefits as well?
Unfortunately not, unless you legally adopt your niece or if both of her parents are deceased or disabled.
My daughter's father died she is 18 does she qualify for anything
If your child is still attending elementary or secondary school full time, she may qualify for survivor's benefits.
I became disabled June of 2014. I have just received my backpay and been to ss to add my daughter. Will I get backpay for her as well?
You may be able to get back pay for your daughter, depending on when you had applied for SSDI.
I'm receiving disability payment my son claims the student college grant my ex husband is coming back to Ireland to work will this affect my self and my sons claoms
Your ex husband should not affect your claims, and your son's grants for college may not affect your claims either.
If my children were volunteerly temporarily placed with their father by cps but I still have custody, daily visits and support them financially will I still be payee
Representative payees do not need to live with the children that they are payee for, so you may still be able to be their payee if you are still otherwise eligible to be their payee.
My son Is on rittalin for adha and is asmatic and uses astavent and budeflem pumps.he was evaluted by a occupational terapist currently goes to occupational classes once a week and the was also seen by a counselling psychologist. Can my son qualify for a dissability grand .I am not working
It is possible that he may, you may want to apply for benefits on his behalf. You may also want to speak with a disability advocate or lawyer about applying, if you fill out the form on the left of this page or go here:
we can have one reach out to you.
i had just found out that my children might have been able to collect from my ssdi i never knew they could now they are over 18 can i still apply for back pay for them
My daughter is deaf-blind, since birth, and gas half a heart (Charge Syndrome). My husband is recently started receiving VA disability check. Should SSI count his VA disability as income for my 10 year old daughters eligibility?
His VA disability could potentially affect your daughter, but it unlikely that she will become ineligible! This is because VA benefits are considered unearned income.
I was just awarded SSD and I have two minor children age 8 and age 13 will they also be entitled to receive back pay like I will.
They may be able to get back pay, it depends on if they were listed on the initial application.
If I'm pregnant do they take my social security away from me ?
If you are otherwise still eligible for social security benefits, they would not take your benefits away from you because of pregnancy.
I have multiple sclerosis and began receiving ss benefits last year because I am no longer able to function as a nurse due to my cognitive symptoms. My 2 children (10 & 13) from a previous marriage also receive benefits. My ex-husband (their father) committed suicide last month. My question is, will they also receive survivor benefits? Our household income drastically decreased when I could not longer work and now we have also lost his monthly child support payment. He not only paid child support, but helped buy clothing and helped with other incidentals for the children (sports fees, glasses, etc)
I'm very sorry to hear about that! Your children may be eligible for survivor's benefits, I would contact your local SSA office, they would be able to advise you about your family's eligibility. You can find a listing of them here: http://www.disability-benefits-help.org/social-security-disability-locat...
Im actually only askn for a friend. She has a child on ssi he is 16 but he is bein bullied at school and doesnt want to fo ro school anymore. They gave him the option of bein withdrawn n getting his ged. So my question is will his benefits stop if he withdraws from school?
No, his benefits should not stop if he withdraws from school. They will stop when he does turn 18 though.
My son was approved for SSI benefits and was owed back pay. He received the first installment of the money and then moved with his father. He is still owed back money from SSI. He now lives with both of us equally and I don't know how to go about getting the money.
If your son's SSI application stated his living situation is different than what it is now, I would contact the SSA and let them know. Regarding the back pay, the SSA usually pays SSI in installments, so you would get the next installment about six months after the last one.
hi my sons age 19 now (16) and 13 now (10) when their dad filed for disability, he had to have a hearing and was approved. We have been seperated for over 4 years. His disability was finally approved this past year. How can or do my sons qualify for benefits being he got approved and how do I apply for them?
Your children may be eligible for auxiliary benefits, I would contact the SSA to apply. You can call them at 1-800-772-1213 or you can visit www.ssa.gov
Can a child receive social security benefits from both parents
The child may be able to get auxiliary benefits from the parent whose benefit amount would be the highest.
I was just granted my ssi, my daughter is 21 but still in school "college" can she receive any benefits
Unfortunately, SSI does not offer auxiliary benefits for dependents.
Will my recive medical insurance after age 18
If they are on SSI benefits, they may have to re-apply once they hit age 18.
My 2 daughter's father is currently $35,000 behind on child support. He recently had a dibilitating stroke. i'm thinking now that he can't deal drugs he might have filed for disability. is there a way to find out, so that maybe his girls could benefit?
Unfortunately, you would need his written consent for the SSA to release any information to you. If he is awarded SSDI benefits based off of his work record, then your child may qualify for benefits based off of that.
